1,580 new COVID-19 cases reported on 12-05-2023 for last 24 hours

A significant milestone has been achieved in India’s Nationwide Vaccination Drive as a total of 220.66 crore vaccine doses have been administered thus far. Among these, 95.21 crore doses were administered as the second dose, providing individuals with enhanced protection against COVID-19. Additionally, 22.87 crore precautionary doses were given to those who required additional medical attention. In the past 24 hours alone, 1,593 doses were administered, contributing to the nationwide effort.

The active caseload in India currently stands at 18,009, which is a commendable achievement in managing the pandemic. Active cases account for just 0.04% of the population, highlighting the significant progress made in reducing the spread of the virus. The recovery rate in the country is currently at an impressive 98.77%, reflecting the effectiveness of medical interventions and public health measures. Over the past 24 hours, 3,167 individuals have recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,44,28,417.

However, it is important to remain vigilant as 1,580 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate currently stands at 1.23%, indicating a relatively low rate of transmission. Furthermore, the weekly positivity rate is 1.49%, reflecting consistent efforts to identify and control the spread of the virus. To ensure effective monitoring, a total of 92.83 crore tests have been conducted across the country, with 1,28,764 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
