Lok Sabha Election: In Phase-6 of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a total of 889 candidates from 8 States and Union Territories (UTs) are set to contest. This includes 20 candidates participating in the adjourned poll in the 3-Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency (PC) of Jammu and Kashmir.
For this phase, 1978 nominations were filed for 57 PCs across the 7 States/UTs going to the polls. Following scrutiny, 900 nominations were deemed valid. The last date for filing nominations was May 06, 2024, excluding the adjourned poll in 3-Anantnag-Rajouri of Jammu & Kashmir, which had 28 nominations, of which 21 were valid.
Uttar Pradesh led with the highest number of nominations at 470 from 14 PCs, followed by Haryana with 370 nominations from 10 PCs. The 8-Ranchi PC in Jharkhand received the most nominations, totaling 70, followed closely by 2-North East Delhi PC with 69 nominations. On average, there are 15 contesting candidates per PC in this phase.
