New Delhi, December 19, 2023: Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, Sh. Piyush Goyal unveiled three significant documents related to the PM Gati Shakti initiative at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. The release ceremony was attended by the Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Sh. Som Parkash, and other senior officials.
The three documents released are:
- Compendium of PM GatiShakti: Volume II: This compendium highlights 11 successful use cases of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) adoption across various sectors and states. These cases exemplify the benefits of PM Gati Shakti, including expeditious decision-making, integrated planning, and the replacement of manual processes with digital tools. The compendium serves as a valuable resource for stakeholders, promoting cross-learning and contributing to Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Living.
- Handbook for District Collectors: PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Area Development Approach: Given the emphasis on comprehensive area-based socio-economic development in PM GatiShakti, this handbook guides district-level officers on the principles of Area Development Planning. It provides insights into the roles and responsibilities of district/local level administration in achieving the objectives of PM GatiShakti. The handbook is intended to facilitate the seamless adoption of PM GatiShakti at the district/local level.
- Compendium of Roles and Responsibilities on PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan: This document outlines the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders, including line Ministries/Departments, States/UTs, BISAG-N, and the Logistics Division. It serves as a resource to promote clarity, collaboration, and efficient data management practices. The compendium emphasizes the formulation of checklists for setting data management standards, data quality, and cybersecurity of the NMP platform.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal applauded the efforts made under PM Gati Shakti, highlighting its benefits in addressing challenges through integrated data-driven mechanisms, cost-effective project planning, and expeditious approvals. The release of these documents is expected to synchronize infrastructure planning, improve logistics efficiency, and foster holistic development across the country.
Union Minister Som Parkash emphasized the importance of onboarding infrastructure, economic, and social ministries/departments for integrated planning on PM Gati Shakti principles. The documents, he noted, would enhance India’s infrastructure planning synchronization and logistics efficiency.
Secretary, DPIIT, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Singh commended the improvement in area planning at the district/local level and highlighted the documents’ role in streamlining roles and responsibilities for all stakeholders.
Smt. Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary (Logistics), DPIIT, underscored the concerted efforts in data ownership, quality management, and the use cases of PM Gati Shakti, culminating in the release of these documents.
The release of these documents marks a significant step towards promoting efficient planning, collaboration, and development under the PM GatiShakti initiative, contributing to the nation’s progress.
