AFMC Pune Commissioning Ceremony 2024: A Momentous Occasion

AFMC Pune Commissioning Ceremony: In a grand and memorable event held at Capt Devashish Sharma, Kirti Chakra Parade Ground, AFMC Pune, one hundred and twelve medical graduates from the 58th batch were commissioned into the Indian Armed Forces on April 25, 2024. The ceremony, witnessed by senior officials, veterans, and proud families, marked a significant milestone in the careers of these young officers.

Lt Gen Daljit Singh, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) & Senior Colonel Commandant, of Army Medical Corps, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He reviewed the Commissioning parade, which was commanded by newly commissioned officer Lt Sushil Kumar Singh, formerly a medical cadet.

Congratulating the freshly commissioned officers, Lt Gen Daljit Singh urged them to serve the nation and the armed forces with unwavering dedication, wishing them success and fulfillment in their endeavors.

The cadets from the 58th batch of AFMC showcased outstanding academic prowess in the MUHS winter 2023 examinations. Out of the one hundred and forty-seven graduating cadets, including five from friendly foreign countries, one hundred and twelve were commissioned into the Armed Forces Medical Services. Among them, eighty-seven were Gentlemen Cadets, and twenty-five were Lady Cadets, with eighty-eight joining the Army, ten the Navy, and fourteen the Air Force.

Following the commissioning ceremony, an Academic Awards Presentation recognized the exceptional achievements of the cadets. Flying Officer Ayush Jaiswal was awarded the prestigious ‘President’s Gold Medal,’ while Surgeon Sub Lieutenant Bani Kaur received the esteemed ‘Kalinga Trophy.’

Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, renowned globally for its excellence in medical education and healthcare services, received accolades such as the President’s Colour and the Chief of Defence Staff Unit Citation for its exemplary service to the nation.

The Passing out Parade ceremony, organized under the patronage of Lieutenant General Narendra Kotwal, Director & Commandant, and Maj Gen Giriraj Singh, Dean & Deputy Commandant, AFMC Pune, marked a proud moment for the institution, the armed forces, and the nation as a whole.
