Amazon has confirmed that it will continue to lay off workers in January 2023. Last year in November, the tech giant announced layoffs of thousands of employees and is continuing to fire while parting ways with over 18,000 of its employees globally.
“As part of our annual planning process,” CEO Andy Jassy said in a message to staff, “we’re announcing layoffs due to the uncertain economy.” The company wants to focus on the health of its customers and the long-term plans for its business.
Amazon will inform the impacted employees by mail starting January 18. It will majorly impact the company’s Amazon Stores and PXT organizations, though the layoffs will be carried out across departments.
