Ambassador P. Harish, currently serving as India’s Ambassador to Germany, met with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a move to fortify bilateral relations between the two countries. His extensive diplomatic career includes pivotal roles as Additional Secretary (Economic Relations) in the Ministry of External Affairs, leading the Economic Diplomacy Division and Multilateral Economic Relations Division.
“Joining the Indian Foreign Service in 1990, Ambassador Harish has demonstrated linguistic prowess, mastering Arabic at the American University of Cairo. He served in Indian Missions in Cairo and Riyadh and held the post of India’s Representative to the Palestinian Authority in Gaza City. Notably, he was seconded to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) as the Chief of the Policy Analysis Unit”.
His diplomatic journey also includes service in the East Asia and External Publicity Divisions in the Ministry of External Affairs. From 2007 to 2012, Ambassador Harish served as the Joint Secretary and Officer on Special Duty to the Honorable Vice President of India. Further expanding his global footprint, he served as the Consul General of India in Houston from July 2012 to March 2016, covering eight states in the South and South-West of the USA.

Harish held the position of the Ambassador of India to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from April 2016 to June 2019, contributing to the strengthening of ties between the two nations. His diverse academic background includes being a gold medallist Mechanical Engineering graduate from Osmania University College of Engineering, Hyderabad, and studies at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta”.
Married to Mrs. Parvathaneni Nandita, Ambassador Harish is a devoted family man with two daughters. The recent meeting with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman underscores his commitment to fostering economic cooperation and diplomatic ties between India and Germany under his seasoned leadership.
