Union Home Minister Amit Shah conveyed heartfelt birthday wishes to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, expressing prayers for his good health and long life. Adityanath, a prominent figure in Indian politics and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been serving as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh since March 19, 2017.
Yogi Adityanath, born Ajay Mohan Singh Bisht on June 5, 1972, has emerged as a significant leader in Indian politics, known for his contributions to state governance and Hindutva ideology. He holds the distinction of being the longest-serving Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, having been in office for seven years and securing two consecutive terms.
Before assuming the role of UP CM, Yogi Adityanath served as a member of India’s parliament for nearly two decades, representing the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha Constituency. His early entry into politics at the age of 26 marked the beginning of a successful political career, characterized by five consecutive terms as a parliamentarian.
Adityanath’s leadership extends beyond politics to his role as the mahant (head priest) of the Gorakhnath Math, a revered Hindu monastery in Gorakhpur. He has been serving in this position since September 2014, following the passing of his spiritual Guru, Mahant Avaidyanath. Additionally, he is the founder of the Hindu Yuva Vahini, a Hindu nationalist organization.
Known for his image as a Hindutva nationalist and social conservative, Yogi Adityanath’s tenure as UP CM has been marked by various initiatives aimed at promoting Hindu cultural values and advancing state development. His leadership has garnered both praise and criticism, reflecting the diversity of opinions within Indian society.
