On the 16th of January Amit Shah said on Thiruvalluvar day, and I extend my warm greetings to everyone. For centuries after centuries, the divine wisdom and life lessons taught by Thiruvalluvar guided the path to a pious life. He said May this day unleash a nationwide renewed interest in reading his books among the youth.

Know About Thiruvalluvar year:-

Commonly known as Valluvar, Thiruvalluvar was a celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher. He is most famous for writing the Tirukkuṟaḷ, a set of couplets on topics like ethics, politics, economics, and love. Exceptional and widely cherished, the text is considered a work of Tamil literature.

“Valluvar is shrouded in mystery,” says Kamil Zvelebil, a scholar of Tamil literature. Different biographers infer his life and likely background from his literary works.

His literary works provide evidence for different biographers to infer his life and likely background. As well as Christian missionaries of the 19th century, all major Indian religions have tried to claim him as being secretly inspired (crypto-) or originally belonging to their tradition.

There is little certainty about his family background, religious affiliation, or birthplace. It is believed that he lived in at least the town of Mylapore (a neighborhood of present-day Chennai), and his floruit is dated variously from the fourth century BCE to the early fifth century CE, based on the traditional accounts and linguistic analyses of his writings.

While Kamil Zvelebil infers the Tirukkuṟaḷ and Valluvar are best dated to around 500 CE, Maraimalai Adigal gives 31 BCE as the birth year of Valluvar.

Valluvar has had a wide range of influences on scholars across the ethical, social, political, economic, religious, philosophical, and spiritual spheres since his time. He is widely respected as a great sage, and his literary works are classics of Tamil culture.
