Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Punjab Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria and the Union Home Secretary, launched the e-Sakshya, Nyaya Setu, Nyaya Shruti, and e-Summon apps in Chandigarh. This marks a significant milestone in the implementation of India’s largest legal reforms of the 21st century.
Amit Shah: Introduction of New Laws
Shri Amit Shah highlighted the introduction of three new laws—the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). These laws, replacing outdated codes, reflect Indian ethos and are designed to modernize the criminal justice system, incorporating advanced technology for better efficiency.
Technological Advancements in Justice
The new apps are set to revolutionize the legal process. e-Sakshya will store all evidence digitally, e-Summon will streamline court summons, Nyaya Setu will integrate information across police and legal sectors, and Nyaya Shruti will enable witness testimonies via video conferencing. These innovations aim to enhance transparency and speed in legal proceedings.
Commitment to Modernization and Awareness
Shri Shah emphasized that the Modi government’s reforms include extensive training and technological upgrades, including setting up forensic science universities. He urged citizens to engage constructively with these changes, seek official clarifications, and contribute positively to the implementation of these transformative laws.
