Anand Mahindra Proposes Laser-Powered Cannon to Combat Dengue in Mumbai

Last updated on August 30th, 2024 at 01:52 pm

As dengue cases surge in Mumbai, industrialist Anand Mahindra has proposed a high-tech solution: a laser-powered mosquito cannon. The device, developed by a Chinese engineer, uses radar and lasers to detect and destroy mosquitoes, aiming to combat the rising disease.

The Device’s Unique Features

The compact cannon operates similarly to a missile defense system but is adapted to target insects. It uses radar technology, originally from an electric car, to detect mosquitoes and a laser to eliminate them. The engineer even maintains a ‘Death note’ tracking the number of mosquitoes destroyed.

Mahindra’s Vision and Reaction

Labeling the device an “Iron Dome for your home,” Mahindra shared the video on X, expressing interest in acquiring the technology. His post received significant attention, with users commenting on the innovative solution’s potential and suggesting it could inspire new business ventures.

Public and Online Reaction

Mahindra’s proposal has sparked a mix of enthusiasm and curiosity online. Many are intrigued by the potential of such technology in addressing public health crises, while others see it as a novel business opportunity.
