Lucknow: Industrialist Anand Mahindra, known for his keen eye for innovation and design, took to social media platform X to share his admiration for Lucknow’s newly constructed terminal at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. In a post accompanied by a video showcasing the terminal’s impressive features, Anand Mahindra expressed his awe, stating, “That’s Lucknow airport?? “This will elevate the city’s reputation for traditional hospitality to new heights… Bravo!” Anticipating the opportunity to revisit the city soon.
The construction of the state-of-the-art passenger terminal, also known as Terminal 3 (T3), was initiated in 2018 under the leadership of then Minister of Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu. Covering an extensive land area of 1,11,367 square meters, the terminal boasts a spacious basement and a corridor connecting T2 and 13 terminals, with the capacity to serve over 13 million passengers annually.
With an estimated construction cost of ₹1,383 crore, the new terminal is equipped with 75 check-in counters, 18 check-in kiosks, 30 lifts, and five escalators, ensuring smooth passenger flow and convenience. The architectural design, led by Pascal and Watson, pays homage to the rich culture and heritage of Uttar Pradesh, adding a touch of elegance to the airport’s ambiance.
Moreover, the terminal offers a range of modern amenities, including a multi-story parking facility accommodating 1,500 vehicles and extensive stormwater drainage systems alongside the runway. Operated by Lucknow International Airport Limited (LIAL), the airport caters to diverse passenger needs with services such as self-check-in kiosks, prayer rooms, duty-free shops, and more.
The completion of Lucknow’s new airport terminal not only signifies a milestone in infrastructure development but also underscores the city’s commitment to enhancing its hospitality standards.
