Anurag Singh Thakur Launches PB-SHABD News Sharing Service and Updated News Platforms

In a significant development for India’s information and broadcasting sector, Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated PB-SHABD, a pioneering news-sharing service, at an event held in the National Media Centre, New Delhi. This innovative platform, developed by Prasar Bharati, aims to revolutionize news dissemination across the country by providing accurate and meaningful content to print and electronic media organizations.

“During the launch, Minister Anurag Singh Thakur highlighted the historic significance of the occasion, emphasizing Prasar Bharati’s extensive network for news gathering and delivery in regional languages. He emphasized the importance of sharing this content with the wider media industry to foster synergy and support smaller news organizations lacking extensive networks for content gathering”.

PB-SHABD will serve as a single-point source of news content, offering clean feeds devoid of the Doordarshan logo, thereby facilitating customized storytelling for diverse media platforms. Minister Thakur announced that the service will be provided free of cost for the first year, offering news stories in major Indian languages across fifty categories.

“Additionally, Minister Anurag Singh Thakur unveiled the revamped websites of Doordarshan News and All India Radio, along with updates to the News on AIR mobile app. These enhancements include personalized news feeds, push notifications for breaking news, multimedia content integration, offline reading capability, live streaming, social media sharing, location-based news delivery, bookmarking, and advanced search functionality”.

Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sanjay Jaju, commended Prasar Bharati for the launch of SHABD and the revamped platforms, foreseeing their significant contribution to meaningful news dissemination across the nation.

Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharati, expressed the organization’s commitment to outreach to media organizations and sharing audio, video, photo, and text-based information through the PB-SHABD platform. Designed to provide daily news feeds in various formats, powered by Prasar Bharati’s extensive network, PB-SHABD aims to enrich the news consumption experience for subscribers.

The revamped websites and apps promise users a seamless experience with user-friendly interfaces, engaging design elements, and diverse content offerings. With dedicated sections covering national and international news, education, health, business, science, sports, environment, and opinion, the platforms cater to diverse interests and preferences, enhancing the overall news consumption journey for users.
