Arunachal CM Khandu Pays Tribute to Revolutionary Khudiram Bose

Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, paid tribute to Khudiram Bose, the young revolutionary who sacrificed his life for India’s freedom at the age of 18. On his punyatithi, Khandu highlighted Bose’s immortal legacy and immense courage.

Sacrifice for the Motherland

Khudiram Bose, born on December 3, 1889, was executed on August 11, 1908, for his role in the Muzaffarpur Conspiracy Case. Alongside Prafulla Chaki, he attempted to assassinate a British judge but tragically killed two British women by mistake. Bose’s actions marked him as one of the earliest Indian revolutionaries to face British execution.

Early Life and Revolutionary Activities

From a young age, Khudiram was involved in the struggle against British rule. Orphaned early, he was raised by his sister and became actively involved in revolutionary activities, including bombings and protests. His determination and commitment made him a significant figure in the fight for Indian independence.

Controversial Legacy

While Mahatma Gandhi condemned the violence that led to the deaths of the two women, Bal Gangadhar Tilak defended the revolutionaries, calling for immediate swaraj. Khudiram’s legacy is complex, embodying both youthful idealism and the harsh realities of colonial resistance.
