Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his heartfelt congratulations to Om Birla on being re-elected as the Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. In his congratulatory message, CM Khandu praised Birla’s previous term and expressed his best wishes for his second stint.
Praising Om Birla’s First Term
CM Khandu remarked, “Congratulations to Adarniya Om Birla on being elected as the Honorable Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha. During your first stint, you brought rare grace to the August House. Our finest wishes for an equally glorious second stint, Sir.”
Historic Election Proceedings
The Lok Sabha elected Om Birla, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate, as the Speaker through a voice vote on Wednesday. This election was notable as it was held for the first time in decades due to a lack of consensus between the BJP-led NDA government and the Congress-led INDIA bloc opposition.
Contested Election
The election saw the Congress fielding Kodikunnil Suresh as its candidate for the Lok Sabha Speaker post, opposing BJP’s Om Birla. Despite the contest, Birla secured his position through the parliamentary voting process.

CM Khandu’s message reflects a strong endorsement of Birla’s leadership and his hope for continued success and dignity in the Speaker’s role.
