Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Offers Condolences on Ramban Road Accident

RambanRoad accident: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed deep sadness over the devastating road accident that occurred in Ramban, Jammu. Ten individuals lost their lives when a taxi swerved off the road amidst heavy rain and plunged into a gorge along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

“In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with those who have lost their dear ones in this unfortunate incident,” stated Chief Minister Khandu. “Additionally, I extend my heartfelt prayers to Lord Buddha, seeking swift healing and recovery for those who have been injured in this tragic Road Accident.”

According to Ramban deputy magistrate Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary, the accident took place near Battery Chashma around 1:15 am amidst pitch darkness and heavy rainfall. Although the vehicle, believed to be a Chevrolet Tavera, has not been located, ten bodies were recovered from the steep slope where it plummeted 500 meters.

Rescue efforts were promptly initiated by the police, quick reaction teams, and local administrative officials. Despite their best efforts, the chances of finding survivors were deemed slim by Chaudhary.

The authorities recovered two identity cards from the deceased, identifying them as taxi driver Balwan Singh, 47, from Amb Gharota in Jammu district, and Vipin Mukhiya from Bhairagang in the West Champaran district of Bihar. The bodies were transported to Ramban district hospital for further procedures.

The tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the perils posed by adverse weather conditions and the importance of exercising caution while traveling, especially during inclement weather. Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s condolences echo the sentiments of solidarity and compassion for the bereaved families, while the ongoing rescue efforts underscore the collective commitment to alleviate suffering and restore normalcy in the affected region.
