Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu paid homage to the visionary leader and founder of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, on his Jayanti.
“Paying my humble tribute to RSS founder Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar on his Jayanti with deep reverence,” stated Chief Minister Khandu, recognizing the profound impact of Dr. Hedgewar’s ideologies on the fabric of Indian society.
Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, affectionately known as Doctorji, was born on April 1, 1889, into a Maharashtrian Deshastha Rigvedi Brahmin family in Nagpur. Despite humble beginnings, his dedication to education and nation-building shaped his remarkable journey.
Founding the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Nagpur in 1925, Dr. Hedgewar articulated the ideology of Hindutva, envisioning a Hindu Rashtra that embraces cultural and spiritual rejuvenation.
“Dr. Hedgewar believed in the cultural and spiritual rejuvenation of India, and his vision for a strong and united Bharat continues to resonate deeply with millions,” affirmed Chief Minister Khandu, highlighting the enduring relevance of Dr. Hedgewar’s principles in contemporary India.
Dr. Hedgewar’s early life was marked by resilience and determination. Despite the loss of his parents during the plague epidemic of 1902, he received unwavering support from his uncle and mentor, B. S. Moonje, who ensured his education and served as a guiding figure.
His journey in education led him to pursue medical studies in Kolkata, where he graduated from the Calcutta Medical College in 1916. Returning to Nagpur as a physician, Dr. Hedgewar’s commitment to nation-building only grew stronger, culminating in the establishment of the RSS.
As Arunachal Pradesh joins the nation in commemorating Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar’s Jayanti, Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s tribute underscores the enduring legacy of a visionary leader whose ideals continue to shape the collective consciousness of India.
