Arvind Kejriwal Pays Homage to freedom fighter Mangal Pandey on His Birth Anniversary.

On the 19th of July, Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, expressed his heartfelt tribute to the valiant freedom fighter Shaheed Mangal Pandey on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Kejriwal acknowledged the pivotal role played by Pandey in igniting the flame of revolution against British rule in 1857. The Chief Minister emphasized that Pandey’s supreme sacrifice for the country continues to serve as a timeless inspiration for the entire nation.

A Tribute to Shaheed Mangal Pandey:

On the birth anniversary of Shaheed Mangal Pandey, Arvind Kejriwal extended his profound respect and admiration for the fearless fighter who defied colonial oppression. Kejriwal referred to Pandey as a symbol of courage, who fearlessly lit the torch of revolution against the British Empire during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, commonly known as the Sepoy Mutiny.

Pandey’s Revolutionary Spirit:

Mangal Pandey, a soldier in the British East India Company’s Bengal Native Infantry, played a significant role in fueling the spirit of resistance against British rule. On March 29, 1857, he valiantly led an uprising against the use of greased cartridges, which required soldiers to bite them with their mouths, allegedly contaminated with pig and cow fat. This act of defiance was a turning point that sparked widespread resentment and resistance among Indian soldiers and civilians alike.
