Ashok Saraf is an Indian film and stage actor born on June 4th, 1947. He is also a comedian. He has appeared in many lead roles in Marathi language films and stage plays, and in supporting roles in Hindi language films and TV serials.

Early life:

Saraf was born in Mumbai, India on 4 June 1947. He grew up in the South Mumbai neighbourhood of Chikhalwadi and attended DGT Vidyalay for his education. After veteran actor Ashok Kumar, he was named “Ashok.” He spent his childhood in South Mumbai at Chikhalwadi. He completed his schooling at DGT Vidyalaya in Mumbai.

Personal life:

He married actress Nivedita Joshi-Saraf in 1990. They married at the Mangueshi Temple in Goa, where Saraf’s Baniya Agarwal family, originally from Rajasthan, used to live before moving to Maharashtra. Aniket Saraf, their son, is a chef. Saraf survived a major car accident in 2012 on the Mumbai Pune Expressway near Talegaon.
