Assam CM: Over 3.6 Lakh Bicycles Distributed to Assam Students

Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, recently highlighted the state’s significant efforts to promote meritocracy among students.

Assam: Bicycles for Students

In the academic year 2023-24, a total of 3,69,454 students received bicycles to facilitate their daily commute to schools, enhancing access to education.

Mentorship Program

The Arohan initiative has successfully mentored 9,700 students, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.

Cash Rewards and Fee Waivers

Under the Anundoram Borooah Award scheme, 27,183 students were granted a cash reward of ₹15,000 each, acknowledging their academic excellence. Additionally, 17,19,306 students benefited from fee waivers, easing the financial burden on families and promoting higher education.

Scooters for Students

Further encouraging student mobility and independence, 35,770 students have been provided with scooters.

These initiatives reflect Assam’s commitment to fostering a culture of meritocracy and supporting the academic pursuits of its young citizens.
