Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, has lauded the Cachar Police for their successful operation on NH 37, which led to a significant drug seizure. Acting on confidential information, the police conducted a targeted operation at Chalchapra, resulting in the interception of a vehicle transporting contraband.
“Upon thorough search,” stated Himanta Biswa Sarma, “974 grams of heroin valued at ₹5 crore, believed to have been smuggled from a neighboring state, was recovered from the vehicle. One suspect has been taken into custody in connection with this incident.”
The Chief Minister commended the swift and effective action of the Cachar Police, emphasizing the importance of such operations in combating drug trafficking and maintaining law and order in the region.
