Assam CM Orders Closure of Schools Amid Red Alert for Severe Weather

In a proactive measure to ensure the safety of citizens, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam has announced the closure of educational institutions across several districts. This decision comes in response to the Red Alert issued for Nagaon, Hojai, West Karbi Anglong, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Dima Hasao, Cachar, Hailakandi, and Karimganj.

“In light of the Red Alert for these districts, all educational institutions will remain closed on May 29, 2024. Our priority is the safety and well-being of our students and citizens,” stated Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The Red Alert signifies an imminent threat or hazardous conditions, prompting government authorities to take precautionary measures to mitigate risks and ensure public safety. With adverse weather conditions or potential natural disasters looming, closing educational institutions becomes essential to safeguard students, teachers, and staff members.

The affected districts, including Nagaon, Hojai, West Karbi Anglong, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Dima Hasao, Cachar, Hailakandi, and Karimganj, will observe the closure of schools and colleges on May 29, 2024. This decision aims to prevent any potential risks and allow residents to stay indoors, away from harm’s way.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urges citizens to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities. “We must prioritize the safety of our people above all else. Stay indoors, stay safe, and stay informed,” he emphasized.
