Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has extended heartfelt wishes to all members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on the occasion of CRPF Day.
In his message, CM Sarma commended the CRPF for its unwavering commitment and professionalism in various roles, including peacekeeping and disaster management. He expressed his gratitude to the brave men and women of the force who dedicated themselves to protecting the integrity of the nation.
Established as the Crown Representative’s Police on July 27, 1939, the CRPF became the Central Reserve Police Force following India’s independence on December 28, 1949. Under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the CRPF plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order, counter-insurgency operations, and assisting state and union territories’ police forces.
With 247 battalions and a sanctioned strength exceeding 300,000 personnel, the CRPF is India’s largest central armed police force. Beyond its domestic duties, the CRPF has also participated in United Nations missions, reflecting its global significance in peacekeeping efforts.
As the nation celebrates CRPF Day, CM Sarma’s message underscores the invaluable contributions of the CRPF in upholding security and preserving peace across the country.
