Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, emphasized the significance of skill development on World Youth Skills Day, stating, “Today is World Youth Skills Day, a subject close to my heart and a focus area of our Government. Here are a few initiatives we’ve undertaken to empower our youth.”
World Youth Skills Day: Sarma highlighted several key initiatives:
- Assam Skill University: Establishing Assam Skill University to provide specialized training and education.
- Centres of Excellence: Transforming 77 ITIs and Polytechnics into Centres of Excellence, with 5 already operational and 23 more to be opened in August.
- Assam Skill Development Mission: Driving the state’s efforts to enhance skill development among the youth.
- Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan: Promoting self-reliance through various skill development programs.
- State-of-the-Art Training: Providing training in cutting-edge centres outside Assam to ensure the highest quality of education and skill enhancement.
These initiatives reflect the Assam government’s commitment to equipping its youth with the necessary skills for future employment and self-reliance. “Our focus is on creating opportunities and building a skilled workforce that can contribute significantly to the state’s growth and development,” Sarma added.
