Who is Keir Starmer?
Keir Starmer, 61, is set to become Britain’s next Prime Minister, recognized for his contributions to law and criminal justice, earning a knighthood from the late Queen Elizabeth II. Elected as a Member of Parliament from London in 2015, Starmer is a lawyer by profession.
Starmer is married to Victoria, an NHS employee, and they have two children. His leadership of the Labour Party is credited with revitalizing its fortunes after a disappointing performance in the 2019 general election. He notably restored the party’s rapport with the substantial Indian diaspora, which had felt marginalized under former leader Jeremy Corbyn due to perceived stances on Kashmir.
