Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, conducted a crucial Advisory Group Meeting with airport operators on December 19, 2023. Focused on the upcoming season, the Minister emphasized the need to prevent congestion at airports, assuring proactive implementation of measures for a seamless and time-efficient travel experience.
During the meeting, the Minister addressed queries and suggestions from operators, guiding them to optimize operations for passenger convenience. A key discussion point was the promotion of ‘DigiYatra’ to boost the transition from manual to digital check-ins and entry gate processes, streamlining passenger movement.
“Currently available for domestic passengers at 13 airports, including major hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, the meeting explored extending ‘DigiYatra’ to international passengers for both departure and arrival processes. Airport operators were tasked with presenting successful biometric-enabled models from other countries”.
Furthermore, Shri Scindia reviewed the Capital Expenditure targets of all airport operators, aligning them with actuals obtained in Q3. The meeting witnessed participation from major airport operators, including GMR Airports, Adani Airports, BIAL, Cochin Airport, and the Airports Authority of India. Secretary Civil Aviation, Shri Vumlunmang Vualnam, DG BCAS, Shri Zulfiqar Hasan, DG DGCA, Shri Vikram Devdutt, along with other key officials, were present at the event.
