Ayodhya: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, currently under construction in Ayodhya, is a testament to architectural grandeur, traditional craftsmanship, and modern amenities. Envisioned in the traditional Nagar style, the temple’s dimensions are awe-inspiring: stretching 380 feet from east to west, with a width of 250 feet and a height towering at 161 feet.
This three-storeyed marvel incorporates a meticulous design, with each floor at 20 feet. The Ram Janmabhoomi Temple boasts 392 pillars and 44 gates, adorned with intricately carved statues of various Gods and Goddesses, showcasing the rich tapestry of Hindu mythology.
The main sanctum will house the deity of Shri Ram Lalla Sarkar, while the first floor will feature the revered Shri Ram Darbar. Adding to the splendor, the temple will include five pavilions: Dance Pavilion, Color Pavilion, Sabha Pavilion, Prayer Pavilion, and Kirtan Pavilion.
“Access to the temple will be through the east side, involving the ascent of 32 stairs and entry through the Singhdwar. Ensuring inclusivity, provisions for ramps and lifts are being incorporated for the convenience of the disabled and elderly visitors”.
The Ram Janmabhoomi Temple’s precincts will be encompassed by a rectangular wall, measuring 732 meters in total length and 14 feet in width. At each corner of the park, four temples dedicated to Sun God, Mother Bhagwati, Ganapati, and Lord Shiva will be erected. Maa Annapurna and Hanuman ji will also be honored with dedicated temples in the northern and southern arms, respectively.
“Noteworthy is the commitment to environmental sustainability. The temple complex is devoid of iron and concrete on the ground. Instead, a 14-meter thick Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) has been laid, resembling an artificial rock. To combat soil moisture, a 21-foot high plinth made of granite has been installed”.
The temple complex is self-reliant, featuring independent facilities such as a sewer treatment plant, water treatment plant, water system for fire fighting, and an independent power station. A Pilgrims Facility Center, accommodating 25,000 individuals, will offer amenities like lockers, medical facilities, bathrooms, toilets, and washbasins.
Embracing Indian tradition and technology, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple is a harmonious blend of heritage and innovation. With an unwavering commitment to water conservation and environmental preservation, 70% of the temple’s 70-acre expanse will forever remain lush and green. As a symbol of cultural revival, this sacred abode embodies the ethos of a timeless heritage.
