A targeted campaign has been rolled out in urban areas across the state to streamline the issuance of Ayushman cards for beneficiaries covered under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. This special initiative, operational until January 10, involves setting up camps in key locations such as Health and Wellness Centres, Chief Medical Officer offices, government hospitals, ration shops, and government offices.
“The primary objective of this campaign is to create Ayushman cards for 2.48 crore beneficiaries. The National Food Security Act’s eligibility list currently encompasses 3.48 crore beneficiaries, with ration cards issued to only 1.30 crore individuals so far. Consequently, there is a substantial gap of 2.18 crore beneficiaries for whom Ayushman cards need to be generated”.
The focus is on eligible household ration cards, with Ayushman cards planned for 49.74 lakh families having five or more members in their household. This strategic campaign aims to bridge the existing disparity and extend the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to a larger population.
In addition to the on-ground camps, beneficiaries can also apply for Ayushman cards online through the Ayushman App. To facilitate the card issuance process, beneficiaries can utilize the toll-free numbers 14555 and 180018004444. It’s noteworthy that the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana provides beneficiary families with free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh annually, reinforcing the importance of this ongoing initiative.
