Bareilly: Following Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan’s demonstration in Bareilly’s Shyamganj area, two reports have been lodged at the Baradari police station. Nakatiya residents Sameer Sagar and Kapil filed the first report against 50 to 60 unknown attackers, while Mustaqeem and another resident filed the second report against 20 to 25 unknown individuals.
Both parties allege unprovoked beatings and injuries, leading to medical examinations conducted by the police. SP City Rahul Bhati stated that action would be taken upon identifying the culprits through CCTV footage and mobile recordings.
Despite alerts due to previous violence in Haldwani, chaos erupted in Bareilly’s old city, with shops vandalized and individuals of other communities assaulted. IMC chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan’s demonstration escalated tensions, resulting in clashes and injuries.
The situation intensified when demonstrators, bypassing security measures, gathered in restricted areas, prompting police intervention. Though Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan called for calm and dispersed, anger persisted among the crowd, leading to further unrest and slogans against government officials.
In Shyamganj and the old city, enraged individuals vandalized shops, targeting fruit and flower stands. Several people, including Sameer Sagar, Kapil Sharma, and shopkeeper Harpreet Singh, sustained injuries amid the chaos. Allegations of attempted arson were made, with police dispersing crowds to restore order.
