Body cam footage from a recent police encounter in Surprise, Arizona, has surfaced, shedding light on a tragic incident that resulted in the death of 44-year-old Trinidad Ledesma. The footage reveals the events leading up to the fatal shooting, raising questions about police response and protocol.
The incident unfolded when Surprise Police responded to a domestic dispute call at Ledesma’s residence. Upon arrival, an officer entered the home after Ledesma’s presumed partner opened the door and reported that Ledesma was attempting to harm her.
As the officer turned the corner, Ledesma could be heard warning, “Shortly after, the officer observed Ledesma holding what he described as a “black shotgun” in his right hand, while warning, “Don’t come near, boss. Without hesitation, the officer discharged his weapon, fatally injuring Ledesma.
The officer claimed Ledesma had begun to move the shotgun barrel in his direction, prompting the use of lethal force. However, discrepancies arose when the officer referred to the weapon as an AR-15 during the incident.
