Assam: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has shared promising updates on the ambitious 12.2 km bridge across the Brahmaputra, connecting Palasbari and Sualkuchi. Initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during last year’s Bihu celebrations, the bridge holds the promise of transforming connectivity and boosting Assam’s heritage textile center.
CM Sarma expressed his satisfaction with the project’s latest milestone, announcing that Larsen & Toubro has been awarded the contract. The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to completing the construction within 48 months, showcasing a dedication to prompt execution.
This infrastructural endeavor is a significant step forward for Assam’s connectivity, an aspect that has received considerable attention and impetus under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Sarma emphasized the historical context, noting that between 1947 and 2014, only three bridges spanned the Brahmaputra. However, due to recent initiatives, Assam now boasts six operational bridges, with an additional six currently under construction.
The Brahmaputra Bridge is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing transportation and connectivity in the region. As Assam strives to foster economic growth and cultural exchange, the bridge holds the potential to become a symbol of progress, linking communities and facilitating smoother travel between Palasbari and Sualkuchi.
The project not only addresses the immediate infrastructure needs of Assam but also aligns with the broader vision of promoting economic development and preserving the rich heritage of the state. As construction progresses, the bridge is poised to become a vital lifeline, fostering greater accessibility and inclusivity for the people of Assam.
