Breakthrough in IIT BHU Student Gang Rape Case: All Three Accused Apprehended

Varanasi: In a significant breakthrough, the police have successfully apprehended all three suspects involved in the heinous gang rape of an IIT BHU student that occurred almost 60 days ago. The accused individuals, identified as Kunal Pandey from Brij Enclave Colony Sunderpur, and Anand alias Abhishek Chauhan and Saksham Patel from Jivadhipur Bajardiha, have been taken into custody.

The investigative efforts led to the recovery of the motorcycle used during the commission of the crime. The incident unfolded on the night of November 1, when the student, accompanied by a friend, ventured out of her hostel for a walk. Near the Gandhi Smriti Hostel intersection on the campus, the three accused, riding a Bullet motorcycle, intercepted and attacked the victims.

The assailants not only physically assaulted the friend but also subjected the student to a traumatic experience, capturing the horrific incident on video while brandishing a gun. Following the incident, IIT BHU students rallied in protest for ten days, demanding swift action, the apprehension of the culprits, and heightened security measures for the campus.

“The arrest of the accused brings a sense of relief and justice to the survivor and the larger BHU community. The police’s diligence in solving the case and capturing the perpetrators reflects the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of students within the campus premises. The recovery of the motorcycle and the swift action in making the arrests underscore the authorities’ dedication to upholding the rule of law and providing closure to the victim and her peers”.

This development serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to create an environment where educational institutions prioritize the safety and well-being of their students. The incident sparked a broader conversation about the need for enhanced security measures and vigilant law enforcement to prevent such heinous crimes on campuses. As the legal proceedings unfold, it is hoped that justice will be served, and steps will be taken to prevent the recurrence of such appalling incidents in the future.
