Tensions escalated on Friday as BRS leader KTR Rao found himself in a heated exchange with Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials during a raid at the residence of fellow party leader K Kavitha in Hyderabad. K Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister KCR, was detained and subsequently arrested, being shifted to Delhi for further questioning regarding the Delhi excise policy scam case.
K Kavitha’s legal team condemned the arrest, citing that her petition against the ED summons was pending before the Supreme Court for a hearing scheduled on March 19. Meanwhile, BRS working president K T Rama Rao, former minister Harish Rao, and numerous party members gathered at Kavitha’s residence, raising slogans in protest against the move.
ED officials stated that Kavitha’s husband, DR Anil Kumar, was notified about her arrest, and her preliminary statement was recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act amidst the raid.
This arrest marks the third high-profile leader to be implicated in the case, following the detentions of AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh. Notably, K Kavitha’s arrest comes on the eve of the scheduled announcement of the Lok Sabha election schedule, adding a political dimension to the unfolding events.
