The Padma Awards, among the highest civilian honors in India, are presented in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. These accolades recognize outstanding service and achievements in various fields, encompassing art, social work, public affairs, science, engineering, literature, and more. ‘Padma Vibhushan’ is bestowed for exceptional and distinguished service, ‘Padma Bhushan’ for distinguished service of high order, and ‘Padma Shri’ for distinguished service in any field.
Annually, on Republic Day, the President of India confers these awards at ceremonial functions held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The ceremony, usually in March or April, symbolizes the nation’s appreciation for the recipients’ outstanding contributions. In the year 2024, the President approved the conferment of 132 Padma Awards, including 2 duo cases. This esteemed list comprises 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri Awards.
