The era of colonial criminal laws of the British Raj is over.” This statement came during the release of a book at the Niwas office detailing three new laws implemented nationwide.

Justice-Oriented Laws: Transition to Justice Laws

Sai elaborated on the shift from British-era penal laws to contemporary justice laws, explaining, “The Indian Penal Code, 2023 replaces the Indian Penal Code, 1860, the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023 replaces the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, and the Indian Evidence Act, 2023 replaces the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.” These new laws are designed to better serve modern judicial needs.

Extensive changes have been made to ensure victims receive speedy justice, thereby strengthening public confidence in the justice system.” The reforms aim to address delays and improve the efficiency of legal proceedings.
