Chhattisgarh CM Paid Tributes to Rani Durgavati on Martyrdom Day

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai commemorated the martyrdom day of Rani Durgavati by offering floral tributes at her statue located on Canal Link Road in the capital city of Raipur. The ceremony, held to honor the valor and sacrifice of Rani Durgavati, was attended by cabinet colleagues Shri Ramvichar Netam and Shri Kedar Kashyap.

Born on 5 October 1524 at the fortress of Kalinjar, Rani Durgavati hailed from the Chandela Rajput dynasty that governed the Mahoba kingdom. She married Dalpat Shah, son of King Sangram Shah of the Garha Kingdom, allying the Chandelas of Mahoba and the Rajgonds of Garha-Mandla.

During her reign as the queen regent of Gondwana from 1550 to 1564 AD, Rani Durgavati defended her kingdom against the Mughal Empire, becoming renowned for her bravery and resilience.

“On the martyrdom day of braveheart Rani Durgavati, floral tributes were offered to her by garlanding the statue of Rani Durgavati located on Canal Link Road in the capital Raipur,” stated CM Vishnu Deo Sai. The ceremony reflects the state’s homage to her significant role in history and her enduring legacy of courage.

The event underscores Chhattisgarh’s reverence for its historical figures and commitment to preserving their memories. Rani Durgavati’s contributions continue to inspire generations, symbolizing strength and fortitude in defending her people and principality against external threats.
