Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, amidst his Lok Sabha election campaign, made significant moves following his interim bail granted by the Supreme Court. Kejriwal, also the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), addressed his inaugural press conference and led roadshows.
The press conference, held at AAP’s office in the capital, saw Kejriwal addressing questions about his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money-laundering case related to Delhi’s liquor policy. He elucidated on why he didn’t resign from his post despite continuous pressure from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“The chief minister’s post is not crucial to me,” Kejriwal emphasized. “I chose not to step down because a conspiracy was devised to force my resignation based on false allegations.”
The BJP had persistently criticized Kejriwal for clinging to his position despite spending 50 days in custody. His actions and statements mark a pivotal moment in the political landscape, as the Lok Sabha elections approach.
