Naresh Bansal, a prominent Indian politician and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament from Uttarakhand in the Rajya Sabha has been recognized for his extensive political career. He has served as the former General Secretary (Organisation) of BJP, Uttarakhand, and held the position of interim president. Bansal’s association with the party spans over four decades.
Naresh Bansal’s political journey began at the age of eight when he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organization. Over the years, he has held various positions within the RSS, demonstrating a deep commitment to its ideals. Notably, he served as the city treasurer of the RSS student council between 1972 and 1974. Additionally, Bansal has been at the helm of the RSS’s disaster management panel for over two decades.
In his early political career, Bansal served as the district coordinator of the student organization Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in 1977. His active participation in the Hindu Jagran Manch from 1980 to 1986 reflects his commitment to social and cultural causes.
Bansal’s association with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been significant. He held the position of state general secretary (organization) from 2002 to 2009 and served as the interim president of the party. Before his election to the Rajya Sabha, Bansal was the vice-chairman of the state-level 20-point program implementation committee.
In 2012, Naresh Bansal was selected as a Rajya Sabha candidate for the BJP but later withdrew. However, on November 2, 2020, he was elected unopposed from Uttarakhand.
