CM Himanta Biswa meets Nitin Gadkari and seeks assistance for the infra project

A productive meeting between the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and the Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, took place recently, signaling a promising collaboration towards bolstering Assam’s infrastructure. The Chief Minister expressed his eagerness to learn and glean from the Minister’s expertise while seeking his invaluable assistance in expediting crucial infrastructure projects in the state.

During the meeting, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the significance of several vital infrastructure projects for the development and connectivity of Assam. Among the key projects on the agenda was an underwater tunnel between Gohpur and Numaligarh, the construction of the Guwahati Ring Road, the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, and the four-laning of various stretches of National Highways across the state.

The proposed underwater tunnel between Gohpur and Numaligarh holds immense potential in revolutionizing transportation and connectivity in the region. It is expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance accessibility to important areas, fostering economic growth and tourism.

The Guwahati Ring Road, another crucial undertaking, aims to ease traffic congestion and facilitate smoother transportation in and around the city. By providing an alternative route and bypassing the city center, this project has the potential to streamline logistics and enhance overall connectivity in Guwahati.

The Kaziranga Elevated Corridor project seeks to address the conservation challenges faced by the Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, due to road crossings. By constructing an elevated corridor, the authorities aim to ensure safer wildlife movement and minimal disruptions to the park’s ecosystem.

Furthermore, the four-laning of various National Highway stretches in Assam is a pivotal initiative to upgrade road infrastructure, improve connectivity with neighboring states, and boost trade and commerce in the region.
