Chief Minister Mohan Yadav publicly congratulated Lok Sabha MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on his birthday, expressing well-wishes for good health and a long, happy life. However, Singh’s political journey is marred by controversies, notably his arrest in connection with the Babri Masjid demolition and charges under the anti-terrorism law TADA for sheltering Dawood Ibrahim gang shooters. Despite these accusations, he was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, born on January 8, 1957, is a prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has served as the president of the Wrestling Federation of India. Currently representing Kaiserganj in the Lok Sabha, his career has been a mix of political success and legal challenges.
The latest development involves serious allegations of sexual harassment by seven female wrestlers, including one minor, against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Notable athletes like Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat have testified in an FIR, contributing to the ongoing wrestlers’ protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
“The accusations have shifted the spotlight from birthday wishes to a heated controversy, further complicating Singh’s political standing and putting the BJP in a challenging position. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how both the legal and political landscapes will respond to these serious allegations against the Lok Sabha MP”.
