On December 19, Goa celebrated its Liberation Day, marking the historic day when the state was freed from Portuguese colonial rule in 1961. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant took to social media to extend heartfelt wishes to the people of Goa, honoring the sacrifices made by the state’s freedom fighters and the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces in leading Operation Vijay, which liberated Goa after 451 years of colonial oppression.
Saluting Freedom Fighters and Brave Soldiers
In his message, CM Sawant highlighted the progressive journey that Goa has embarked upon in recent years. “We salute the sacrifices and efforts of our freedom fighters, and their contributions will always be remembered and cherished,” said Pramod Sawant.
The Chief Minister also saluted the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces for their critical role in the successful Operation Vijay, which was instrumental in ending the Portuguese rule and ensuring Goa’s integration with India.
