CM Swadeshi Go-Samvardhan Yojana: Empowering Cow Herders and Fostering Indigenous Breeds

Under the visionary leadership of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh state government is championing the cause of self-reliance for cow herders while fostering a renewed appreciation for indigenous cattle breeds. Introducing the ‘Chief Minister Swadeshi Go-Samvardhan Yojana’ as part of the ‘Nand Baba Milk Mission’, the government aims to provide support to cow herders and incentivize the procurement of Sahiwal, Tharparkar, Gir, and hybrid breeds from other states.

The initiative includes a well-structured subsidy framework to facilitate the acquisition of indigenous cows, contributing to the self-reliance of cow herders. The subsidy covers expenses related to transportation, transit insurance, animal insurance, and other necessary expenditures associated with procuring cows. Cow herders can avail of this subsidy when purchasing a maximum of 02 indigenous cows, with subsidies amounting to a generous sum of up to ₹80,000.

To ensure the effective implementation of the scheme, the government has initiated the first phase in the districts of 18 divisional headquarters. This strategic approach reflects the government’s commitment to gradually extend the program’s benefits while ensuring its successful execution and maximum impact.

The ‘Chief Minister Swadeshi Go-Samvardhan Yojana’ is a testament to the Uttar Pradesh state government’s dedication to preserving and promoting indigenous cattle breeds. These breeds are not only integral to the cultural fabric of the region but also hold significant ecological and agricultural importance. By offering support to cow herders and promoting the acquisition of indigenous breeds, the government is taking significant strides towards conserving India’s rich heritage and strengthening its agricultural sector.
