CM Yogi Adityanath Announces 65,000 New Police Recruitment in Uttar Pradesh

In a Dussehra gesture that carries immense significance, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has unveiled plans for the recruitment of 65,000 new police personnel in the state. This move aims to bolster law enforcement and provide employment opportunities for the youth of Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Minister Yogi emphasized the state’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. He noted that following the year 2017, the Uttar Pradesh Police had already conducted 1,51,985 recruitments, including more than 22,000 women in various roles. Additionally, promotions were granted to 1,34,235 police officers serving in various capacities. The next step in this endeavor includes the promotion of 11,885 policemen, concurrent with the recruitment process for an additional 65,389 posts within the UP Police. These measures signify the state’s dedication to law enforcement and public safety.

During the Police Memorial Day observance in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his appreciation for the remarkable achievements of the UP Police. He praised the police force for its pivotal role in transforming the law and order situation in the state. Under the policy of zero tolerance, the police have played a vital role in cracking down on organized criminal gangs, resulting in a significant reduction in criminal activity. Uttar Pradesh has consistently ranked at the top nationally for its effective prosecution of wrongdoers, particularly in cases involving crimes against women and girls.

“In a solemn tribute to the police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, Yogi Adityanath honored the families of constables Sandeep Nishad, Raghavendra Singh, and Bhedjit Singh during the ceremony. Over the period from September 1, 2022, to August 31, 2023, a total of 188 policemen across the country, including three from Uttar Pradesh, laid down their lives in the line of duty”.

CM Yogi expressed his confidence that the supreme sacrifice made by these brave officers would serve as an enduring source of inspiration for all police personnel, motivating them to continue discharging their duties with unwavering dedication and a deep sense of responsibility. He assured that the government would take every possible step to support the families of these martyred policemen.

Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the state is reflected in its police budget. In the pursuit of technical enhancements to further empower the UP Police, the budget has more than doubled. In the financial year 2017-18, the total budget allocated to the UP Police was Rs 16,115 crore. This allocation has seen a substantial increase, reaching Rs 37,109 crore for the financial year 2022-23. These additional resources have allowed for the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment and technology to enhance the police force’s effectiveness.

Under the leadership of Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Principal Secretary Home Sanjay Prasad, DGP Vijay Kumar, Special DG Law and Order Prashant Kumar, and other senior police officers, Uttar Pradesh is taking comprehensive measures to ensure the safety and empowerment of women in the state. The significant deployment of 15,130 women police officers in fieldwork across districts and the appointment of 10,378 women-beat officers underscores the state’s commitment to the welfare and security of women.

Furthermore, the state has been relentless in its efforts to curb crime, particularly through encounters with criminals. Under a strict policy of zero tolerance, these encounters have resulted in the elimination of 190 criminals and injuries to 5,191 others in various districts from March 2017 to September 2023. Regrettably, 16 policemen have also sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, with 1,478 more sustaining injuries during these operations.

“In addition to these measures, the government has worked to reduce noise pollution and improve the quality of life for its citizens. A campaign led to the removal of 98,639 loudspeakers from religious places, with the sound of an additional 1,00,439 loudspeakers being adjusted to conform to established standards. These efforts have been integral to the state’s vision of creating a safer and more harmonious environment for its residents”.

The recruitment of 65,000 new police personnel will not only enhance law enforcement but also create employment opportunities for the youth of Uttar Pradesh, aligning with the government’s dedication to the welfare and security of its citizens. This bold initiative reinforces Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to providing a safe and prosperous future for all its residents, ushering in a new era of public safety and well-being.

The contributions of the UP Police, coupled with the government’s unwavering support, serve as a beacon of hope for the state, promising a brighter and more secure tomorrow for its people.
