Know About Magh Mela:-
Magha Mela also spelled as Magha Mela is an annual festival with fairs held in the month of Magha (January/February) along river banks and sacred ponds near Hindu temples Approximately every twelve years, the Magha Mela Coincides with believers as one astrologically auspicious position of Jupiter, Sun and Moon, and these are called Kumbh Melas as in Prayagraj.
In the south, there is a notable festival at Mahamaham Tank in Kumbakonam; In the east, at Sagar Island and Konark, Puri in West Bengal. The Magha festival, with a bathing ritual as penance, is also celebrated by the Hindu community in Bali, Indonesia.
Certain dates, such as Amavasya and Makar Sankranti, are considered particularly holy, attracting large gatherings. The festival is marked by a ritual dip in the water, but it is also a celebration of community commerce with a pageant of fairs, education, religious discourses by saints, community meals for monks and the poor, and entertainment.
