CM Yogi Adityanath marked a significant milestone today by performing the Bhoomi Pujan for Maa Pateshwari Devi State University in Balrampur. The university, set to span across a sprawling 60-acre campus, will be established at an estimated cost of ₹200 crores.
The inauguration of Maa Pateshwari Devi State University fulfills a longstanding demand that was raised three decades ago for a state university in the Gonda Division. This move is aimed at addressing the educational needs of the region and providing quality higher education opportunities to the local populace.
This development comes as part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s initiative to bolster the state’s educational infrastructure. Over the past 15 days, two other universities were inaugurated in the state: Maharaja Suheldev University in Azamgarh and ABV Medical University in Lucknow.
Notably, Maa Pateshwari Devi State University becomes the third university in Uttar Pradesh to be named after a Shakti Peeth, following Maa Shakumbhari Devi State University in Saharanpur and Maa Vindhyavasini Devi State University in Mirzapur. This naming tradition underscores the state government’s commitment to honoring and preserving the cultural and religious heritage of the region.
The establishment of Maa Pateshwari Devi State University is expected to provide a significant boost to higher education in Balrampur and the surrounding areas, paving the way for academic excellence and socio-economic development in the region.
