Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh paid sincere homage to the late politician and former Chief Minister of the state, Veer Bahadur Singh, on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Singh, born on 18th February 1935, played a significant role in Indian politics and served the nation in various capacities.
Veer Bahadur Singh was a prominent member of the Indian National Congress, contributing to both state and national politics. Not only was he a seasoned politician, but Singh also distinguished himself as an author, showcasing his multifaceted personality.
Appointed as the 13th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on 24th September 1985, Veer Bahadur Singh held the position for 2 years and 274 days until 2nd August 1988. During his tenure, he represented the Paniyara constituency in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, marking his commitment to grassroots representation.
Singh’s leadership marked a historic moment as he became the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from Gorakhpur, leaving an indelible mark on the political landscape of the state. He succeeded N. D. Tiwari and, in a significant reshuffle, relinquished the Chief Ministership to join the Union Cabinet as the Minister for Communications.
Tragically, Veer Bahadur Singh’s life was cut short when he passed away on 30th May 1989, during a visit to Paris, France, at the age of 54. His untimely demise was a loss to Indian politics, and his contributions are remembered and honored on occasions like his birth anniversary.
CM Yogi Adityanath’s tribute underscores the enduring legacy of Veer Bahadur Singh, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping the political narrative of Uttar Pradesh. As the state reflects on the life and contributions of this dynamic leader, his memory continues to inspire future generations in the realm of politics and public service.
