The Ministry of Coal proudly announces substantial achievements in the coal sector, demonstrating robust growth and efficiency during January 2024. The overall coal production soared to an impressive 99.73 Million Tonne (MT), surpassing the figures of the corresponding month in the previous year by 10.30%. This accomplishment highlights the sector’s commitment to meeting the escalating energy demands of the nation.
Coal India Limited (CIL) played a pivotal role in this success, with coal production reaching 78.41 MT in January 2024, indicating a substantial growth of 9.09% compared to January 2023. The Cumulative Coal Production, up to January 2024, recorded a commendable leap of 784.11 MT (Provisional) in FY’ 23-24, exhibiting a robust growth of 12.18% compared to the same period in FY’ 22-23.
January 2024 witnessed a significant boost in coal dispatch, reaching 87.37 MT, reflecting a notable growth rate of 6.52% compared to January 2023. CIL dispatch also demonstrated outstanding performance, reaching 67.56 MT in January 2024, showcasing a growth of 4.83%. The Cumulative Coal Dispatch, up to January 2024, stood at an impressive 797.66 MT (Provisional) in FY’ 23-24, signifying a commendable growth of 10.82% compared to the corresponding period in FY’ 22-23.
As of January 31, 2024, coal stock held by coal companies witnessed a notable surge, reaching 70.37 MT, reflecting an annual growth rate of 47.85%. Simultaneously, the coal stock at Thermal Power Plants (TPP), specifically at the DCB location, marked a significant increase to 36.16 MT on the same date, with an annual growth rate of 15.26%.
