Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, announced in Jammu and Kashmir that the construction of a 2-lane Jaiswal Bridge over River Chenab on the Udhampur-Ramban section of NH-44 has been successfully completed. The Minister highlighted on Twitter that the Balanced Cantilever bridge has been constructed with great attention to detail, spans 118 meters, and was built for a sum of ₹20 Crore.
According to Shri Gadkari, the establishment of this bridge serves a dual purpose. Initially, it would lessen the traffic jam on the Chanderkot to Ramban stretch, guaranteeing the effortless movement of vehicles. Additionally, it will aid in the smooth movement of both vehicles and pilgrim traffic while the ‘Shri Amarnath Yatra’ takes place on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway 44, which will begin soon.
Speaking about the significance of this infrastructure project, Shri Gadkari credited the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi and highlighted their unwavering commitment to providing Jammu and Kashmir with exceptional highway infrastructure. Nitin Gadkari stated that the advancement would not just aid in the economic progress of the area but also improve its appeal as a top tourist hotspot.
The completion of the 2-lane Jaiswal Bridge over River Chenab is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to improve road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. The bridge’s meticulous design and construction at a cost of ₹20 Crore showcases the government’s dedication to creating modern infrastructure that caters to the needs of the people.
