Controversy Erupts as Man Faces Rejection at Virat Kohli’s ‘One8 Commune’ Over Traditional Attire

In a recent incident in Juhu, Mumbai, a man from Tamil Nadu made headlines by claiming he was denied entry to Virat Kohli’s upscale restaurant, ‘One8 Commune.’ The individual, adorned in a white shirt and veshti—a traditional unstitched cloth wrap for the lower body in Tamil Nadu—expressed his disappointment in a viral video that garnered up to 1 million views on the micro-blogging site ‘X.’

The video captures the man standing outside the restaurant, recounting his journey to Mumbai as a dedicated Kohli fan. Despite checking into the JW Marriott hotel, he faced rejection at One8 Commune due to his attire, which the management deemed incompatible with their dress code. Disheartened, he lamented about returning to his hotel on an empty stomach.

The public’s response to the video has been mixed. Some defended dress codes, suggesting that individuals should respect the rules of establishments. One user remarked, “There is some dress code for resto cafes and restaurants. If there are any such, one doesn’t have to visit it and create this unnecessary nuisance.” Another questioned the man’s motives, asking, “Does this gentleman carry a camera with a collar mic along with a cameraman to have food always… Surprising.”

Supportive comments also surfaced, expressing shock at the incident and defending the traditional attire. One comment read, “I am shocked this is happening in India. Vesti is a Tamil Nadu traditional dress. We are so proud of it. How come this has happened? Disappointed. Hope some action must be taken. This should never happen again in India.” Another criticized the perceived discrimination, stating, “This isn’t against the law? This is discrimination. People are like this is private! Grow up kit, this is a democratic country.”
