Counting of Votes for Lok Sabha Elections Underway

Lok Sabha Election: The counting of votes for 542 Lok Sabha constituencies is currently underway, as the BJP’s Mukesh Dalal from Surat was elected unopposed. Simultaneously, votes are being counted for assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, with Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim election results already declared on June 2.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims for a historic third consecutive term, while the opposition bloc, INDIA, seeks to challenge the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The counting will conclude the extensive polling process that spanned over 80 days.

Experts have favored the NDA, with exit polls predicting a strong performance, potentially nearing Modi’s goal of “400 paar” for his alliance. In contrast, the opposition bloc aims to surpass the 180-seat mark.

The results will also indicate whether the Congress can challenge the BJP’s dominance, given its diminishing influence since 2014. The fate of regional leaders like Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray, who have campaigned vigorously, is also at stake.

Besides PM Modi, senior cabinet members like Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh are in the fray, with their victory margins being closely monitored.
