Critical Situation as River Ganga Crosses Danger Level at Ankinghat in Kanpur Nagar.

The Central Water Commission’s recent flood forecast has sounded the alarm for the River Ganga at Ankinghat in the Kanpur Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The river is currently experiencing a severe situation as water levels surge, raising concerns among local officials and residents alike.

According to the latest update, the River Ganga at Ankinghat is flowing at a level of 124.15 meters. This is a steady rise and worrisomely, it stands 0.15 meters above its danger level of 124.0 meters. This unsettling trend has prompted the authorities to take immediate action and closely monitor the evolving situation.

“Officials from various agencies are working tirelessly to manage the challenges posed by the heightened water levels. The local administration, in coordination with disaster response teams, is working to ensure the safety of residents in low-lying areas. Evacuation plans are being put into action, while essential supplies and support are being provided to those affected”.

The reasons behind this surge in water levels could be attributed to multiple factors, including heavy rainfall in upstream areas, the release of excess water from dams, and changing weather patterns. These factors collectively contribute to the current critical state of the River Ganga at Ankinghat.

“Residents living in close proximity to the river are advised to remain cautious and follow guidelines issued by local authorities. Staying away from the riverbanks and complying with evacuation orders, if necessary, are imperative for personal safety and the well-being of the community”.
